Marriage/Childbirth Rates
In the 1920's the childbirth rate was declining at a faster rate than in the past several decades. This decline was due to the availablility of birth control. Margaret Sanger had opened the first birth-control clinic in the U.S. and fought for the legal rights of physicians to give birth control information to their patients. The information about Birth Control was travelling fast and many women took advantage of the opportunity that they were given.
Women experienced greater wquality in marriage. Marriages were based increasingly on love and companionship. Before the 1920s, some children were thrown together with adults in factory work, farm labor, or apprenticeships. Children in the 1920s spent their days at school with children their own age.
